New Medical Weight Management Program at San Jose

Kaiser Permanente’s Medical Weight Management program is a serious, health-conscious solution for managing your weight—a solution that treats the whole you, not just your weight. If you’ve already tried various diets that didn’t work for you, and have at least 40 pounds to lose, you may be a good candidate for our Medical Weight Management program.

You will have access to a program designed to help you lose weight through the following: weekly group support, medical supervision, a low-calorie diet and education in lifestyle modification, nutrition, and exercise.  With these key components, you soon can be on the road to better health and vitality, with professionals to help you every step of the way.

Our Medical Weight Management program combines the expertise of The Permanente Medical Group and the Optifast® meal replacement system to help you lose weight rapidly and safely. And you’ll receive the same high-quality care and service you expect from Kaiser Permanente for all your health needs.

The Kaiser Permanente Medical Weight Management program is provided on a fee-for-service basis and is not covered by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc.  The program is designed for patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 30-40.  You will be prescreened by the Medical Directors to determine eligibility for the program.  Please contact your Primary Care Physician for more information.

If you are interested in finding out more about the new Medical Weight Management program, please attend one of our upcoming free information sessions.  Please call the Medical Weight Management Hotline at (408) 363-4545 to hear the dates of the upcoming orientation sessions.

If you have an emergency medical condition, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. When you have an emergency medical condition, we cover emergency care from Plan providers and non-Plan providers anywhere in the world.

An emergency medical condition is (1) a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in serious jeopardy to your health or serious impairment or dysfunction of your bodily functions or organs; or (2) when you are in active labor and there isn't enough time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital before delivery, or if transfer poses a threat to your or your unborn child's health and safety.
