Camino Verde Parking Lot Upgrade Project

The Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center will be upgrading the Camino Verde parking lot, next to the library. The upgrade will add approximately 95 spaces, and will improve lighting, landscaping and surface safety for employees and members. This project is part of the larger parking improvement initiative for our campus.

The project started today (Monday July 28) and the parking lot is now closed to all traffic. The upgrade will take approximately three months to complete but may re-open to traffic before all the work is done. Some landscaping and other follow-up work may continue after the lot re-opens.

IMPROVEMENTS
•   The completed project will have many benefits to our employees and members.
•   The lot will be redesigned and reconfigured to improve the flow of traffic.
•   Approximately 95 spaces will be gained as a result of the redesign and expansion.
•   The lot will be completely resurfaced, decreasing the chance of slips, trips and falls due to uneven and broken pavement.
•   The new design will be more environmentally friendly, allowing rainwater to filter back into the earth's underground water system.
•   Lighting will be improved for added safety during nighttime use.
•   New landscaping will create a more beautiful space and allow unobstructed views into and out of the lot.

VTA'S COTTLE STATION CLOSING FOR RETROFITS
The VTA light rail station at Cottle will be closed for six to eight weeks beginning in August as the passenger loading platforms are modified to eliminate the eight-inch step up into the light rail vehicle.

Substitute light rail bus bridge service will be provided from both the Snell and San Jose stations during the closure. The bus bridge runs with the same frequency as light rail (every 15 minutes for most of the service day) but customers are being cautioned to allow extra time to reach their destination when riding the bus bridge.

  • More information, including the specific closure date, is available at http://www.vta.org. Customized trip planning services are available by calling VTA Customer Service at (408) 321-2300.

If you have an emergency medical condition, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. When you have an emergency medical condition, we cover emergency care from Plan providers and non-Plan providers anywhere in the world.

An emergency medical condition is (1) a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in serious jeopardy to your health or serious impairment or dysfunction of your bodily functions or organs; or (2) when you are in active labor and there isn't enough time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital before delivery, or if transfer poses a threat to your or your unborn child's health and safety.
